Who We Are

In the summer of 2022, Rapture Musical Theatre Company was established in the city of Fremont, as a non-profit community corporation serving the east of the Bay Area. We are a group of theatre artists who are passionate about bringing new musical theatre to life, sharing the joy of theatre making and creating a cherishing place to enrich, entertain and educate our growing community.    

Tan Sang, Founder and Artistic Director

Tan Sang is a versatile artist, lecturer, pianist, and composer. Fluent in both Mandarin and English, Tan is active in musical theater writing, composing, directing, and music production. Tan served as Director, Music Director, Composer, and Book Writer for "The Wonderful Musician," a musical that premiered at San Francisco State University. Tan's work on "An Artist's Love and Success" has earned recognition as a Theatre Bay Area Cash Perform Grantee.

At San Francisco State University, he serves as a Special Consultant, providing expertise as a piano accompanist and consultant for the theater department's musical theater course. Additionally, Tan served as lecturer for the undergraduate musical theater songwriting course.

Tan is also piano accompanist at The First Presbyterian Church of Mountain View and The First United Methodist Church. His composed for Over Mountain/Canne Short Film Festival. Furthermore, he served as the organizer and composer for the first SFSU musical theater festival, where he produced multiple virtual musical theater songs. His work as a composer for the SFSU RGB Festival includes the  art song titled "The Double." Additionally, Tan's compositions have been featured in a Mercedes-Benz commercial video.

Tan's has earned prestigious accolades, including the Best Musical Theatre Score at the Shanghai Drama Festival and the Shanghai "Guan Mei" Award for the Best Music Score. Prior to these accomplishments, Tan worked as a composer and arranger at Shanghai "8G" Recording Studio. He also taught virtual music production, Cubase, Virtual VST, and songwriting at Shanghai High School International Division.

Tan completed his B.A. in Music Education/Piano at Shanghai Normal University and his M.A. in Music Composition at San Francisco State University.

 Eric Ye, Marketing Director

Eric Ye is a composer, performer, and educator based in San Francisco. He recently completed his Bachelor of Music at San Francisco State University, studying composition and piano performance, and is beginning his Master's program at the Bob Cole Conservatory at CSU Long Beach. A Renaissance man of music, he composes for film, game, and concert, performs as a keyboardist and vocalist, teaches video game music and served as director of the RGB Arts Festival at SF State. Musical theatre holds a special place in his heart, as he grew up listening to Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz. Eric recently performed the lead role of Auguste Rodin in the 2022 stage reading performance of An Artist's Love and Success. He is excited to join more musical productions and to compose his own musical day.

James Schott, Treasurer

James Schott, a theatre enthusiast since high school, initially gravitated towards the music aspect of musical theatre. After a hiatus, he rediscovered his passion for acting and pursued a Vocal Performance major at Fresno City College, where he excelled in operettas and operas. Taking a theatre appreciation course sparked his interest in acting, leading to his involvement in straight plays and auditions for professional theatre companies. Notable roles include "Jerry Lukowski" in The Full Monty and "Ralph Rackstraw" in H.M.S. Pinafore. Returning to the Bay Area, James continued to thrive on stage, securing roles such as "Russian Soloist (Sasha)" in Fiddler on the Roof and "Jean-Michel" in La Cage aux Folles. Currently, he is involved in three local Bay Area productions: Violet, School of Rock, and Guys and Dolls. James resides in Hayward with his wife Carly and dog Wally, and he enjoys hosting board game nights with friends, lovingly dubbed "Games with James™."

Raissa Marchetti-Kozlov, Secretary

Raissa Marchetti-Kozlov is no stranger to the theater both off and on the stage as she serves on the creative sides of many theatre companies in the Bay Area and as an actor in a few more. She recently graduated with a Masters in Theater Arts from San Francisco State University and holds a Bachelors of Business from the Instituto Tecnologico de La Paz in Baja California Sur, Mexico. When not teaching, Raissa works at Google as an Administrative Business Partner (the Stage Managers of Google), is on the board of Rapture Theatre Company, is the Production & Company Manager at Los Altos Stage Company and owns Redwood City Players. “Organization Saves Lives” and “Everything is Figureoutable” are her mottos and coffee, color coding and successful time management are her best friends.
